Guidelines
Program applicants must fulfill some prerequisites in order for them to be accepted.
- Must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States, United Kingdom or Canada.
- Must be 20 years or older by May 2006.
These requirements are stringent with no exceptions. The reason for limiting to residents of only a few countries is simply due to the capacity of the organization. Impak is still a small, volunteer run non-profit that can only manage a small number of applications per year. As Impak grows, we hope to open up our applicant pool to other parts of the world. The age requirement is also a necessity as our program encourages individuals with maturity and relevant academic and work experience. Additionally, there are certain qualities that are looked for in applicants such as a familiarity with or interest in Pakistan and local languages, relevant academic and career interests and prior leadership experience. However, all applicants that qualify under the two main requirements are encouraged to apply and will be evaluated on an individual basis.
Costs
Impak charges a program fee to cover the costs of orientation, travel retreat, and administration. We believe costs should not be a deterrent in allowing individuals to participate in our programs. Impak will assist participants with fundraising materials and provide direction in applying for public and private grants. Scholarships, based on financial need, may be awarded to participants for whom costs could be a prohibitive factor.
